Omega 3 Tortillas

Yields: 1 Tortilla

If you want to snazz up your wraps with a nutrition packed tortilla, then you are in the right place...

Using Omega-3s like ground chia and ground flaxseeds, you get a great dose of inflammation fighting healthy fats, and a whopping 7g of protein per tortilla from the two egg whites.  

Base Ingredients

2 egg whites
1 tbsp ground flaxseed or ground chia seeds
Pinch of baking soda


Add your desired seasonings (check out the suggestions below) and whisk it all together. In a medium sauce pan, cover the bottom of the pan with your oil of choice (perhaps a little olive, coconut, or sunflower oil), and let it heat.  Pour in your tortilla batter, and swirl it around so it evenly coats the pan, making a nice, round tortilla.  Allow it to cook over medium heat until the edges of the tortilla brown and begin to curl (the center should be set).  Flip and cook the other side (doesn’t take long, just enough to brown the reverse side.)

Fill it with some greens, some beans, some avocado… whatever your heart desires, and bon appetite!

Now make it your own!

For a Mexican inspired wrap, I add:
1/4 tsp tumeric
1/8 tsp chili powder
1/8 tsp cayenne
1/8 tsp cumin
chopped garlic clove
pinch of salt

For a sweet wrap I may want to fill with almond butter and bananas, I add:
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp raw cacao powder
1/8 tsp nutmeg
pinch of salt

For a salad-y wrap, I add:
1/4 tsp fresh dill
1/8 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp tumeric
pinch of salt
